The Siegling Family (part 2)

John Zacharias Siegling and his wife Anna Mary Regina Schnierle had 7 children:

Maria Regina Siegling (1824 Charleston – 1920 Nice/France) married 1850, April 18th Jean Edouard Henry Theodphile Schumann Le Clerqc (1820 Comines/France – 1871 Ruhla/Thurinigia).

John Siegling jr. (1825 – 1857).

Henry Siegling (1828 – 1905) married with Kate Rutledge Patrick (1848 – 1921).

In his youth Henry lived the most time in Germany.

Later he served at Marion Artillery, and in 1868 he became the chief of the Siegling Music House in Cahrleston.

His son Rudolph Siegling (1877 – 1934) was the chief of Siegling Music House since 1905.

Elizabeth Ottilie Siegling (1830 – 1920) married 1852, November 9th with the architect John Horlbeck (1817 – 1892).

Frederic Siegling (1832 – 1838) died as child, and his brother William Sextus Siegling (1834 – 1836) also.

Rudolph Septimus Siegling (1839 – 1894).

His wife was since 1884 Effie Oswald Campbell (1862 – 1919).

 He was active in the American Civil War and was later a German American General.

After the war he had a successful Carrer as a lawyer.

Rudolph Siegling was also president of a bank, of the railroad and of the newspaper „The News & Courier“ in Charleston.

In 1874 Rudolph Siegling bought the Roper House. Later - in census 1880 - he was living here with his morther, sister Elizabeth and brother-in-law John Horlbeck.
